YOUR VIDEO

This is a NATIONWIDE casting call. If you are unable to attend the open call in ATLANTA, CLEVELAND, DALLAS, NEW YORK CITY, PHOENIX or ST. LOUIS, you MUST send in by mail or email a video with all your team’s applications to be considered for the show.

What do I need?

If you can, have a friend or family member videotape your team.  Or set up the camera on a tripod.  It will help insure that you and your team are seen/heard clearly.

How long should my video be?

The length of the video should be 5- 10 minutes of unedited footage. No music, no cuts, no voice overs, no fancy transitions – raw footage only please in one of the following formats ONLY: .MOV, .MP4, QuickTime or “PLAY” DVD.

How do I make my video the best quality possible?

No need to use a professional video service. Have a friend videotape your team, but please do not have any of the team members hold the camera for the group section. We would like to see everybody at once. Make sure we can SEE and HEAR you all clearly. Please make sure the backdrop is a plain wall and there aren’t any windows behind you. Make sure that you are not backlit (meaning, don’t stand in front of a window or other source of light). Stand or sit in front of a PLAIN background. This will keep you from looking washed out.  Avoid wearing all white, all black or any outfits with busy/striped prints.  Again, this is to insure we can see you clearly and that the image quality is good. Turn off all televisions, radio, air conditioning or anything else that might add extra noise and stay close to the camera microphone. We want to hear you!

What do I put on the video?

PLEASE HAVE LOADS OF ENERGY. Have fun with your team!

*TIP: The camera tends to suck the energy right out of you, so keep the energy up!

TELL US AS A GROUP:

In this brief video, answer these questions:

  1. Please start with a big HELLO (all together) and say your team’s name!

  2. Give us a brief story on how you know each other and why you are close.

  3. Then have everybody give their name, occupation, and the city you all currently reside in.

  4. Describe who’s who in the group, who you all love celebrity-wise and how competitive you all are.

THEN FILM EACH OTHER INDIVIDUALLY:

  1. Say your name, occupation, age and where you are from.

  2. How would your friends or family describe you? Tell us the good and the bad. Funny? Arrogant? Spontaneous? Klutzy? Nerdy?

  3. What is something that would surprise us to find out about you?

Then please add anything else we should know about you or the team and say why you would be perfect for the show!

The video must be free from any pornographic or graphically violent material, cannot contain any nudity and must not contain any content that is contrary to law or infringes upon the rights of any third party.  By submitting the video, you represent that it does not contain any such material or content. (Please be sure to review the release and other legal provisions of the application before you submit your video.)

Thanks for your interest in our show and for taking the time to make a video!

HELPFUL HINTS:

Do NOT read something you’ve all prepared on camera. We want to see/hear you speak off the cuff. We will have your applications to read the details. Don’t worry about trying to say or do the “right” thing. There is NO “right” or “wrong”. Above all: HAVE FUN MAKING THE VIDEO!

Please note that we cannot review your video submission until we receive your signed applications from you and your whole team.  We will not look at it otherwise, so please be sure to submit the applications FIRST!

QUESTIONS ABOUT MAKING A VIDEO

What do we need?

You will need a video camera and a friend to film you. Please use DVD or transfer and upload to Vimeo, SendSpace or Youtube (best option)- please make sure the “private” access is turned off.  We do NOT accept MiniDVD, Hi-8 or VHS tapes.

How long should our video be?

Up to approximately 10-minutes of unedited footage. No background music, no cuts, no fancy transitions – raw footage only. Also the background must be PLAIN – no windows, pictures, objects, etc. behind you.

What should we wear in the video?

Wear something that best represents who your group is. If you are all in a bowling league, wear your bowling shirts! If you are a family, wear the same color of shirts! Feel free to have fun with it! Try to avoid crazy patterns (i.e. stripes) and ABSOLUTELY NO LOGOS or graphic t-shirts that were NOT created by you.

How do we make our video the best quality possible?

There is no need to use a professional video service. Have a friend video tape the team – please do not hold the camera yourself; Make sure we can SEE and HEAR you all clearly. Frame the camera where we can see EVERYBODY in the frame.

What do we put on the video?

TELL US then SHOW US! There is no "right" or "wrong" thing to say on the audition tape. The camera tends to suck the energy right out of you, so keep the energy up!! Be as unique as possible.

Be CREATIVE and have FUN! SHOW us who you all are!
